A stroll through the ancient ruins of Noto Antica, located on Mount Alveria, culminating in an aperitif at sunset, when the reddish hues of the light bathe the tuff stone of Noto Antica, creating a breathtaking view.
The walk through the medieval city begins at Porta della Montagna, framed by massive fortifications dating back to the mid-1500s, which lead us into the ancient settlement. Here, we will discover the remains of the royal castle, churches, and noble palaces, and delve into the millennia-old history of the Jewish community that resided here for centuries.
We will then move to the “Hill of Memory,” where, alongside rock-cut tombs from the protohistoric era, trench graves from the Greek period, late ancient hypogea, and a Christian catacomb known as the “Cave of a Hundred Mouths,” lies a small Jewish necropolis from the 5th–6th century AD, adorned with menorahs.
The tour concludes at the top of the hill, offering a panoramic view of the valley and the ancient settlement, where participants can enjoy an aperitif and a tasting of local products.
